Promotion of young talent

The Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung aims to inspire young people to pursue careers in medicine, especially in surgery. It supports various projects for young talent, thereby promoting high-quality surgical and medical care throughout Germany and abroad.

Funding in 2024

The Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung, in cooperation with the Afghan Women's Association, is running a scholarship programme entitled ‘Perspective through Competence – Special Curriculum in Implantology’ for 10 female dentists at the Kabul Oral Surgery Clinic. The 10 female dentists will take part in live online events, e-learning lessons and face-to-face events held in Kabul by a German dentist who was born in Afghanistan.

Funding in 2014

Since 2013, the Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung has been supporting the development of a new training concept for visceral and thoracic surgery through surgical training on body donors. Trial courses were held at the Anatomical Institute of Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and at the Anatomical Institute of Semmelweis University in Hungary. In this context, the Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung commissioned MIB GmbH to conduct an anatomical-surgical internship at the Semmelweis University in Budapest, which took place from 31 October to 3 November 2013. The training concept was adopted by the Berufsverband Deutscher Chirurgen (German Doctors' Association) in 2014 as part of its training and continuing education programme.

The Deutsche Chirurgiestiftung helped initiate and develop a new training concept for the field of visceral and thoracic surgery. This concept includes surgical training on body donors, with trial courses held at both the Anatomical Institute of Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and the Anatomical Institute of Semmelweis University in Hungary. In 2014, this concept was adopted by the Berufsverband Deutscher Chirurgen (German Doctors' Association) for its training and continuing education programme. In this context, a surgical workshop on visceral and thoracic surgery took place from 31 October to 3 November 2013 at the Institute of Anatomy and Pathology at Semmelweis University in Budapest.
