TMJ Competence Centre
The temporomandibular joint is one of the most complex structures of the human body. Disorders and injuries of this joint can have a profound impact on function, growth, development and quality of life.
The TMJ Competence Centre was established to support this international collaboration by promoting scientific exchange, structured education and evidence-based standards in temporomandibular joint care.
A special focus is placed on modern surgical and endoscopic techniques, including the pioneering work of Professor Chi Yang from Shanghai, whose concepts have significantly advanced the understanding and treatment of anterior disc displacement and its consequences for mandibular growth and joint development.
Through international cooperation, advanced training and interdisciplinary expertise, the TMJ Competence Centre aims to improve treatment quality and ultimately benefit patients worldwide.
The International Association of TMJ (IATMJ) was founded in 2026 to bring together scientists, surgeons, orthodontists, radiologists, physiotherapists and all disciplines involved in the temporomandibular joint.
